To get the Italian Fiscal Code (or CF, codice fiscale), you have 3 options:
💬 There were some scams from Extra-EU people who requested some CF, ID and other papers, to sell them and make fake documents.
Therefore, from April 2022, the “Agenzia delle Entrate”, considering also there is no more the Covid emergency, decided it’s compulsory to go personally to the Agenzia delle Entrate to get the CF.
I know your stay is temporary and it takes time to make this procedure, but now it’s the only way, unfortunately 😔.
You need the CF, mainly to allow the landlord to register the lease contract.
He’s required by law to do it within 30 days from your arrival, to avoid to pay a fine.
If you don’t provide your CF in time, you’ll be charged by that fine.
Thank you for your collaboration and understanding 🙏🏻
Recently arrived in Milan and you need Italian Codice Fiscale?
It’s like the Social security number (SSN) in US.
If you are renting an apartment, the landlord needs it to register the contract, or you will need it to get an Italian SIM card, to open a bank account in Italy and for other purposes.
To easily get the CF, you should fill 2 documents:
✅ Here on the right side of the page, an example I filled out for you, so you can concretely see how it should be.
2️⃣ The letter to confirm the scanned passport you are sending is in conformity with the original one you have. Download the letter here, it’s called “Autocertificazione”, in red the details you should insert.
Once you have filled and signed the 2 documents (FormAA48 and “Autocertificazione” letter) , you should send them via email, together with your passport, to the Agenzia delle Entrate firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com
The Agenzia delle Entrate offices of Milan are the busiest, so it can take up to 1 month to receive the CF.
If you need the CF with urgency, you can send the email also to dp.Pavia@pce.agenziaentrate.it (Pavia is a smaller city in the South of Milan).
I give you an Italian text to write in the email, so it will be easier for the employee (and appreciated!) to process your request:
“Spett.le ufficio dell’Agenzia delle Entrate,
vorrei richiedere per favore l’attribuzione del CF, per permettere al proprietario dell’appartamento che affitto di registrare il contratto di locazione.
Sono uno studente universitario internazionale e starò a Milano per alcuni mesi, mantenendo la mia residenza all’estero.
Avrei cortesemente bisogno del CF al più presto.
In allegato il mio passaporto, oltre al modello AA48 e l’Autocertificazione compilati e firmati.
Grazie e saluti,
your NAME SURNAME
YOUR CELL NUMBER
YOUR ADDRESS IN MILAN“
In about 2 weeks, they’ll send you via email your Italian Codice Fiscale, it will be a paper similar to this one:
